Court

The shelter hearing for our foster boy was yesterday. The social worker told us she would be shocked if he got sent home and was defiantly advising against it. But low and behold the judge sent him home and because he was at school at the time we didn't even get to say good-bye. The judge and the social worker have both thanked us though for being willing to take a teenage boy in. I guess they are really hard to place.

Another 12 Year Old Boy (Or Not)

Yesterday I went to the foster parent training and support group in our area. Our social worker from our first placement needed me to fill our some paper work and I asked if she had anymore kids she was looking for a placement for. She told me that there was another 12 year old boy that she was going to be investigating the situation of right away. Our worker said she would let us know what happened. So about five hours later I get a call from my husband asking me if we want to take 12 year old boy and letting me know what the situation is.

After talking about it we call the social worker back and let her know that if she cannot find someone in a closer proximity to his school that we would be willing to take him. She says that sounds good and she will let us know what she finds out. She also adds that she just found out he is 15 and not twelve. Are we still willing? I tell her we are still willing and about an hour later I get the call that they are coming out to our place as nobody else that she had called as a possible placement has called back.

So at about 7:30 pm we got our second placement. So far he is doing well I am sure that as he gets more comfortable here there will be things to work through. He is a really good eater and is very appreciative of any and ever thing we are doing for him.

Whiter than snow.

The snow is making it way down the mountains. Each morning when we wake up and look out the snow level is lower.  All day yesterday "Q" would ask when we would be getting snow, like every 5 minutes. The snow covers the land and gives it a fresh clean look. Just like the snow serves to cover the death brush and barren ground so Jesus blood will cover the dirt in our lives.

Today in the children's class at church they were learning about the two roads one leading to eternal life and the other to eternal death. The teacher had the children decide to which path different behaviors, habits, and choices belonged. But ultimately we need Jesus blood to cover us making us whiter than snow, like the snow covers the mountainside.

Our foster boy "Q" seemed to really be soaking the idea of the two paths. This evening he commented that he really liked church this morning. My goal is that he will learn about Jesus while with us and go away with a better picture of who Jesus is from his time here.

Baby Colt

Today, I also became an Aunt for the first time. My brother and his wife first baby was born today. What a great day for a birthday 11-11-11.

First Placement

We picked up our first foster placement. A twelve year old boy. Keep us in your prayers as he talks incessantly. I have been asked the same questions more times then I can remember today. He says he likes us but thinks we need a TV.

Prayer Request and a Sibling Group!!

We have been licensed as foster parent for almost four months now and have yet to get a placement. But earlier this week I was on an the Northwest Adoption Exchange website and came across a sibling group of four. The children range in age from two to eight. There are two boys and two girls. I felt impressed to inquire about them and we have now submitted our home-study to the children's social worker to be considered as an adoptive family for these children.

We are praying for God's will in this situation. I am praying specifically that the right adoptive home will be found for these children, be that us or another place.

Please pray with us for these children and for the ones in charge of choosing which family they will go to.

Two Calls, One day!

Today we got two different calls for foster care placements. One for a four year old boy and the other for a twelve year old boy. Not sure what God's plan is but am looking forward to following where he leads. The four year old needs a place starting next week and the twelve year old needs a place in a couple of weeks. Pray that God will direct us to the right placement.

Canning

Today I put up 49 quarts of apricots.  I started by just using one of my canners but then after about one batch I realized that it would take all day to get the canning done that way so I decided to try two canners it was a bit of a challenge to keep up with both of them. But I was able to get about 60 pound of fruit canned solo in about 5 1/2 hours. Not to bad!!

It will be nice having all the fruit to eat this winter.

July and our License

Yesterday we got our foster license in the mail. I am really looking forward to working with the children that God sends to our home.

I have had a really busy summer. At the beginning of the summer I took a new job taking care of a little boy with Autism. This has been a really interesting experience and has given me a chance to be a witness in the way I live my live as the family I work for is not Christian.

In the middle of July I was able to get back to Michigan for the first time in two years. It was really nice to be able to see my family and some of my friends back there. Then after spending a week in MI six of my siblings can and spent a week out in Idaho with us. And then just this past Saturday night my older brother got married. So it was a very busy but fun month.

Centennial

This weekend our town is celebrated its hundredth birthday. Our church had a booth and we were able to hand out quite a bit of Christian literature. Several people from our church played some Christian music and the community really seemed to appreciate the music.

Welcome

I am starting a blog to record the things going on with our family. We have gone through the process of becoming foster parent and are now just waiting for our license. We are being licensed to take in three children. I have really felt a call to take care of the orphans and children needing a safe place for a while. Reading the  of other people who foster and adopt and hearing about the huge need for foster parent is what helped me decide to pursue this path.
